Rosa Parks

Today we recognize Rosa Parks. Most historians date the beginning of the United States Civil Rights Movement to December 1, 1955. On this day Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger, which later sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Her actions inspired the formation of the Montgomery Improvement Association, which was led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In 1996, former President Bill Clinton awarded Rosa Parks with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and she also received a Congressional Gold Medal in 1999. Her dedication to ending racial segregation has forever made Rosa Parks a heroine for all races to admire. Jammin 101.5 proudly salute Rosa Parks.
